Nick HOrning - cfi

Howdy! My name is Nick Horning.

My aviation journey began in 2012 during a high school project exploring potential career paths. After my first discovery flight, I instantly knew that aviation was the path meant for me. I began working on my Private Pilot Certificate part-time in Winston-Salem, NC, out of KINT, but had to pause my training due to life circumstances.

I went on to attend Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, NC, where I earned an associate degree in Business and played college baseball for two years before stepping away due to an injury. In 2018, I moved to Greenville, SC, where I worked for Delta as a ramp agent at KGSP, for General Electric’s Natural Gas Turbines division as a quality specialist, and eventually transitioned into a Field Service Engineer role in the medical equipment industry—covering NC, SC, GA, VA, TN, and FL.

While balancing work and training, I ultimately made the decision to fully pursue the dream I had started years ago. I completed my Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, and CFI certificates with Greenville Aviation. From the first day I walked through their doors, they welcomed me like family. Now, I have the opportunity to provide that same experience to new students—supporting and inspiring them to chase their own dreams in aviation.

In my free time, I enjoy evening walks with my wife and our wild (but lovable) husky, spending time with friends, learning Spanish, or on the golf course.
